Buongiorno a tutti,
Come state? Or ‘how are you all?’ This week, one of my favorite people online invited me to write a guest post for her fabulous blog all about my experience living in Turin. To say I was flattered is an understatement, as she is such a great travel writer (and the reason for my obsession with Spello in Umbria).
Michelle Damiani is an American woman who picked up her entire family (husband, three kids and even their two cats) and moved them halfway around the world to spend 365 in a magical hillside town in central Italy. She wrote all about it in her memoir Il Bel Centro which I highly recommend!
Michelle asked me to write a personal piece about what it was like to live in Turin and fill it with my best suggestions for things to do and more importantly places to eat. If you’d like to have a read, click the link below.
All that love for Turin inspired me to write two new posts about the region on my own blog too. Have a read of my favorite places to stay as well as the best towns to visit outside of the capital city.
And in a happy coincidence, I’m headed up to Piedmont for a couple days next week to show my Untold Italy Tours partner-in-crime, Katy around! I can’t wait to see her face when she sees elegant Torino and the pretty as a picture Langhe wine region. I’ll be posting about our time up north on social, so head to my Livguine instagram if you feel like following along.
Find yourself itching to discover the beauty of this relatively unknown Italian region? We still have a few final places on our Piedmont tour this Fall/Autumn if you would like to join our small group. We spend two days in regal Turin with a historic walking tour in the center, visit my favorite producers at the market, go cheese tasting at a historic cheesemonger, enjoy traditional Torinese style aperitivos and try the best the cuisine has to offer.
Then it’s off to the Langhe countryside for a truffle hunt, Barolo wine tasting, a visit to the Alba Truffle Fair, a local cooking class, wanders through some of Piedmont’s best towns, culminating with a trip to a fairytale castle nestled between the vines.
That’s it for now, I’m off to enjoy a walk through Rome where Spring has truly arrived. The birds are chirping, there are gorgeous blue skies and the first greenery is appearing on the trees. This weekend we have our sommelier level 1 exams (wish us luck) before I head up north to Piedmont and then spend a few days in Liguria.
Have a beautiful week x
